Random Year Mercury 90% Silver Dimes $5 Face Value Bag – U.S. Constitutional Silver Coins
Add classic U.S. coinage to your silver holdings with a $5 face value bag of Random Year Mercury 90% Silver Dimes. Struck by the United States Mint from 1916 through 1945, the Mercury dime remains one of the most recognizable designs from the era of circulating 90% silver coinage.
Each bag contains 50 genuine Mercury dimes with a combined face value of $5 and approximately 3.575 troy ounces of silver based on the standard circulated 90% silver calculation. Dates, mint marks, and conditions will vary, making each bag a different assortment of historic U.S. silver coins.
The Mercury Dime
Officially known as the Winged Liberty Head dime, the coin is commonly called the “Mercury dime” because Liberty’s winged cap was often mistaken for the Roman god Mercury. Designed by sculptor Adolph A. Weinman, the obverse depicts Liberty wearing the distinctive winged cap, representing freedom of thought.
The reverse features a fasces paired with an olive branch, a design combining symbols of strength and peace. Weinman’s design debuted in 1916 and remained on the dime until it was replaced by the Roosevelt dime in 1946.
90% U.S. Constitutional Silver
Mercury dimes were struck from an alloy containing 90% silver and 10% copper. Today, these circulated U.S. coins are commonly referred to as constitutional silver and offer a way to own physical silver in fractional, recognizable denominations.
This $5 face value bag contains 50 dimes. Using the commonly accepted circulated silver weight of approximately 0.715 troy ounces per $1 face value, the bag contains approximately 3.575 troy ounces of silver.
Because these are circulated coins, individual pieces may show varying levels of wear, toning, marks, or other characteristics consistent with their age and time in circulation. Specific dates and mint marks are selected at random and cannot be guaranteed.
