Two troy ounces of .999 fine silver take the shape of one of America’s most recognizable highway symbols in the Scottsdale Mint Route 66 Stacker® 2 oz Silver Round. Created for the 100th anniversary of Route 66, this interlocking silver piece pairs the historic highway shield with checkered flag detailing inspired by American automotive culture.

The larger 2 oz format gives the shield-shaped design added weight and dimension while incorporating Scottsdale Mint’s Stacker® technology. It is also designed to interlock with the 1 oz Route 66 Stacker®, connecting both silver weights within the same series.

Built to Interlock

Stacker® technology is central to the construction of the 2 oz Route 66 design. Each piece is formed to securely interlock with another rather than simply resting on top when stacked.

The system also works across the two silver sizes in the series. A 2 oz Route 66 Stacker® can interlock with the 1 oz version, allowing different weights to be combined while maintaining the same shield-shaped profile.

A Century on Route 66

Established in 1926, Route 66 extended approximately 2,400 miles from Chicago to Los Angeles, passing through Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California.

As automobile travel expanded, communities along the highway became destinations of their own. Diners, motels, gas stations, neon signs, and roadside attractions served generations of travelers and helped shape the road-trip culture still associated with Route 66 today.

Route 66 was removed from the U.S. Highway System in 1985, but preserved sections of the road and many of its historic landmarks remain. The 2026 centennial marks 100 years since its original designation and recognizes the highway’s enduring connection to American travel and automotive history.
